Summary of Duties:

The Office of Student Services and Office of Experiential Services in the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (CPPS) are energetic and highly fast-paced environments where we rely heavily on current technologies to meet the demands of the Doctor of Pharmacy students and our stakeholders.

The Academic Coordinator/Advisor serves as a member of the advising team, providing quality advising to professional students from The College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The advisor will provide career, academic, experiential, clinical rotation scheduling, and success advising that fulfills the professional student curriculum and ACPE standards.

This position may require occasional travel to local, regional, and national locations for professional development and student support.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

50 - 55% Advising

35 - 45% Outreach/Programmatic and Administrative Support

5% Program Leadership

5% Other Assignments/Committees

Required Qualifications:

Academic Coordinator/Advisor 1: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of full-time academic advising experience at a college or university or related education/experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.

Academic Coordinator/Advisor 2: Bachelor's degree and three (3) years of full-time academic advising experience in a college or university or related experience. A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one (1) year of professional work experience. Any combination of relevant education and professional academic advising experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis. Positions who will lead or supervisor will require one or more years of full-time experience leading or directing the work of others.

Additional Requirements:

• Experience providing academic and career advising, success coaching, and/or case management in a higher education setting.
• Demonstrated computer software skills, including the ability to use office software, such as databases, spreadsheets, word processing, and Outlook.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Demonstrated ability to remain professional, courteous, and interact effectively with diverse populations in a positive manner that engenders confidence and trust.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently.
• Ability and willingness to occasionally travel, work weekends, and work after regular business hours.
• Experience in program development.
• Demonstrated ability to prioritize job tasks effectively and multitasks to meet deadlines.
• Position requires a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to learn new technology and software applications.
• Working knowledge of learning styles, as well as academic success, career development and retention strategies.
• Experience using student records databases/programs for higher education institutions.
• Strong public speaking skills and the ability to develop and deliver engaging and informative presentations to students and stakeholders.
• Previous work experience at an institution of higher education.
• Previous work experience with a Doctor of Pharmacy or Health Sciences related program.
• Demonstrated experience working with individuals from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
• Familiarity with Washington State University academic rules and regulations.
