Primary Functions/Goals/Objectives

The primary role of this position is to support business in the areas of

(A)   P&L forecasting and actual reporting

(B)   Inventory, Capital expenditure and Working capital

(C)   Japan SH (Structural Heart) market analytics for commercial initiatives

(D)   Business partnering with SH Japan commercial team

The role is primarily responsible for forecasting sales/P&L and analyzing variances between forecast and actual results on a regular basis.

The role helps the Japan Head of Finance report weekly & monthly sales/P&L forecast as well as prepare and present business review presentations.

The role acts as a pivotal role for supporting commercial executions through in-depth financial modelling and analysis that can provide recommended options to drive profitable growth.

Major Responsibilities

P&L Forecasting and actual Reporting

• Work with commercial leaders to develop sales forecast (weekly, monthly, quarterly)
• Consolidation and timely system submission of quarterly LBE (Latest Best Estimate)
• Lead schedule planning on each LBE cycle involving key commercial counterparts
• Develop and update KPI deliverables of key franchises (monthly, quarterly)
• Develop and update headcount forecast
• Support Head of Finance for LBE review preparations such as data gathering, slide preparations, etc.
• Prepare comments on monthly variance analysis vs plan, forecast and prior year
• Assist in capturing accounting requirements on actual entries - intercompany transactions, inventory reserve adjustment, etc.
• Provide ad hoc reports/analysis as needed

Inventory, Capital expenditure and Working capital

• Prepare summary reports, variances analysis and commentaries on inventory movements
• Analyze and identify opportunities for optimal inventory management
• Conduct various ad-hoc analysis as needed

Market analytics for commercial initiatives

• Understand and collaborate with sales & marketing members in gathering market analytics for SH busines
• Analyze data and provide financial insights in various commercial initiatives such as incentive programs to distribution partners, potential collaboration with 3rd party company, etc.
• Analyze data and provide financial insights for any opportunity to improve productivity of our selling activities

Business partnering

• Partner with Head of finance, commercial leaders and staff to drive operating performance and strategic initiatives within the organization
• Closely collaborate with sales leaders in allocating individual sales target for sales reps
• Responsible for calculating sales incentive amount per quarter, precisely and in full detail
• Prepare notification letter to sales members for sales incentive payout result on a quarterly basis

Secondary Roles

• Help Head of finance operate dealer contract management and relevant task handling, such as distribution contract renewal, update of Abbott-specific compliance check program, etc.
• Promote and maintain compliance-related principles and rules as one of compliance promotors within the organization

Recommended Educational Qualifications and Job Experience

• 5+ years of work experiences in FP&A
• Industry experiences with Medical device and/or Pharmaceutical preferred, but not mandatory
• Excellent communication skills in Japanese and English
• Solid foundation/understanding of USGAAP
• Cross-border/multinational experience preferred
• Degree in Finance or equivalent education
