The University of Chicago's Department of Medicine, Section of Hematology/Oncology, and the University of Chicago Medicine Comprehensive Cancer Center (UCCCC) are searching for a full-time faculty member at the Associate Professor or Professor rank to serve as Program Director for Developmental Therapeutics, and as UCCCC Associate Director (AD) for Clinical Investigation.

The appointee will be responsible for developing and growing the Developmental Therapeutics program's robust early phase clinical trial portfolio with an emphasis on molecular oncology and immunotherapy, through integral collaboration with the National Cancer Institute, the pharmaceutical industry, and other academic institutions. In addition, they will work closely with disease-based Program Leaders and leaders within the Cancer Center to facilitate a coalesced, integrated, and well-balanced clinical trial portfolio. By serving on the Cancer Center Executive Committee, the appointee will contribute to overall strategic planning for the Cancer Center, represent the perspective and needs of the clinical trials infrastructure of the UCCCC, and provide oversight for the Clinical Trials Support Unit (CTSU). They will also be a member of the Cancer Service Line and facilitate development of clinical research within the University of Chicago clinical cancer network. Clinical responsibilities include the care of ambulatory and admitted patients as well as the care of patients with rare solid tumors and malignant diseases. Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

The UCCCC is a single academic unit within the Biological Sciences Division. The UCCCC delivers outstanding patient care, conducts world-renowned research, and provides exemplary undergraduate, graduate, medical, and postgraduate education. The UCCCC received NCI designation in 1974 and designation as a comprehensive cancer center in 2008; its mission is to elucidate the determinants of cancer, to develop cures for cancer, and to prevent cancer through research, clinical care, education, and community engagement.  Members of the UCCCC collaborate widely across the BSD, with other divisions and institutes at the University of Chicago, and with researchers at Argonne National Laboratory, and the Marine Biological Laboratory.
