Director of Genitourinary Pathology
The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of California, Irvine is seeking qualified candidates for appointment at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level in the Health Sciences Clinical or Clinical X series. Appointment in the Clinical X series confers membership in the UCI Academic Senate. The candidate will be expected to lead the Genitourinary Pathology service within the Anatomic Pathology division of the Department. Leadership experience and expertise in genitourinary pathology are required. Applicants (MD, DO, or MD/PhD) must be board-certified or board-eligible in Anatomic Pathology with extensive experience and/or fellowship training in Genitourinary Pathology. Expertise in other subspecialty areas is desirable such as cytopathology, gynecological pathology, renal pathology, digital pathology, telepathology, and artificial intelligence.
The successful candidate is expected to have excellent leadership skills, a strong interest and active participation in service activities, a commitment to education, a record in clinical and/or translational research that may be collaborative in nature, and a track record of program building. The ability to work closely with urologic surgeons in clinical and academic affairs, including those involved in the Center for Urologic Care and Comprehensive Prostate Cancer Program, is required. In addition to leading the division, the candidate will be responsible for signing out GU pathology cases, including (but not limited to) prostate, bladder, and oncologic renal cases. They will also be responsible for on-call duty and tumor boards, service on departmental and hospital committees, and teaching of medical students, residents and fellows. Expertise and experience in telepathology and artificial intelligence combined with an ability to collaboratively grow our clinical, educational and research digital pathology programs, an area of emphasis for the Department, are highly desirable.

Requirements - All applicants must have extensive experience and/or fellowship training in Genitourinary Pathology, must be board-certified or board-eligible in Anatomic Pathology, and must hold or qualify for a medical license in the State of California. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience.
