Job Summary:

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a part-time Clinical Instructor (HS), Gynecologic Oncology. The successful candidate will:

• Assist the Gynecologic Oncology Fellows within the Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship Program with their clinical and basic science research projects.
• Assist the Program Director in the maintenance of the Fellowship documents, and assist in the preparation of the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education Annual Reports for the Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship Program.
• Demonstrate accountability for maintaining the National Research Group (NRG) Oncology Membership status and its accounts with the Research Foundation.
• Demonstrate responsibility for the management for the NCI Sponsored clinical trials with the Institutional Review Board, the maintenance if the regulatory documents, the collection and the submission of biospecimen and the entry of the data as well as the timely reporting of the study protocol’s activities and required data for compliance measures.
• Be accountable for the Gynecologic Oncology Group (GCG) patients’ clinical trials and the submission of data as well as the management of the Research Foundation Account for GOG’s National Research Group (NRG).
• Supervise the clinical trial activities at the affiliate institutions, which include Maimonides Medical Center, Kings County Hospital Center, Brooklyn Hospital and Veterans Administration Hospital. Assist the Research Foundation in Establishing the sub-contracts with the affiliate institutions and manages the National Research Group (NRG) payments to the affiliate institutions.
• Manage the Gynecologic Oncology Group’s Foundation and pharmaceutical studies as it relates to the feasibility evaluation and site selection, budget negotiation and contract as well as the submission of the Institutional Review Board Applications, the renewals and amendments for compliance measures.
• Maintain and update regulatory documents for the investigators, research staff and the clinical laboratory.
• Function as the Study Coordinator for the clinical trial conducts.
• Provide the data entry for the Safe Adverse Event reporting, imaging studies and the activities required by the study protocol.
• Be responsible for the collections of the laboratory kits, and obtaining the IBS’s approvals to collect and process as well as submit the biospecimen. Additionally, the responsibilities include the collaborating with the Research Pharmacist to create the inpatients’ entries of the investigational drug products in the Healthbridge System and for closing the visits for the retention of records.
• Demonstrate accountability for establishing Research Foundations accounts for each study and for properly managing the Hospital or the Departments’ service payments as well as being responsible and accountable for the maintenance of the drugs.
• As a member of the Departmental Scientific Review Committee, be accountable for reviewing research projects for submission to the Institutional Review Board (IRB) in a timely manner. Must be accountable for reviewing the residents and the fellows’ IRB Applications for supportive feedback.
• Be responsible for the management of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) site audits for this institution and the affiliate institutions.

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree with a concentration in Clinical Research.
• 5+ years of experience in Clinical Research.
