Susan and Henry Samueli Endowed Chair in Integrative Health
The University of California, Irvine (UCI) invites nominations and applications for an endowed chair (rank of Assistant, Associate or full Professor) in the Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute and School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. The Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute in the Susan and Henry Samueli College of Health Sciences at UCI offers integrative healthcare that incorporates research, teaching, and education into patient care, in the classroom and local community. The School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences faculty is dedicated to training the next generation of pharmacists and scientists involved in leading-edge research in the basic, translational, and clinical aspects of drug discovery, development, and utilization.
Candidates should have an exemplary record of scholarly activities and a profound understanding of human health and wellness as demonstrated through translational studies into the molecular mechanisms of bioactive compounds, including intervention strategies that combine complementary practices with conventional medicine.
Examples of relevant research areas include:
Discovery/synthesis of biologically active natural products and their congeners
Synthetic biology approaches to drug discovery
Molecular approaches that couple translational research to clinical trials
Identification of plant-derived bioactive compounds using various model systems (in silico, in vitro, and in vivo)
Plant chemistry, biotechnology and phytochemistry
Clinical trials on the efficacy and safety of botanicals
Endowed Chairs have a University FTE in addition to endowed Chair funding. Endowed Chairs are reviewed for reappointment every 5 years.
