The Department of Pharmaceutics has an outstanding opportunity for a Program Operations Specialist. This person will hold the title of Associate Director for WE-REACH. The Associate Director will participate in a leadership role for WE-REACH project funding announcements, post-award product development plans, management, and guidance.
The successful candidate will value academic culture and have a passion for supporting researchers as they bridge the translation of promising technologies into clinical and health impacts. Critical activities include supporting applications for funding and overseeing activity-based, stage-gated project milestone achievements. It is an opportunity for an individual with academic research as well as industry experience in developing products leading to successful IND or IDE applications, to guide and support academic researchers on the journey through preclinical research and into the clinic and market launch, as well as consideration for wide-access.

Duties and Responsibilities for this position:
•Guide multiple project teams to develop bench to clinic project plans that delineate team objectives, activities, timelines, budgets and resources required using own expertise and input from community experts •Communicate and align with institutional stakeholders including schools, funders, ITHS, CoMotion and WE-REACH •Drive planning for key gating points (e.g., GMP, GLP, filing IND/IDE)
•Ensure team alignment and accountability •Identify project issues or resource gaps and facilitate resolution •Monitor and communicate progress and timelines, and assist in the development of progress reports •Develop strong partnerships with external business partners and strategic alliances, where applicable
•Providing information to researchers on WE-REACH activities and services

Bachelors Degree with 2 years of collaborative work experience in an academic research environment and in early stage biotech or medical device industries. Project management experience in research and development for therapeutics or medical devices. Direct experience in the development and submission of IND/IDE. Excellent writing skills and interpersonal communication skills
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.
Desired: •Advanced degree or professional certification in project management, clinical research, and/or the biomedical engineering field
•Ability to identify, access, and budget necessary resources to develop, appropriate, and guide teams to meet project milestones
•Strong writing skills to assist in translational and WE-REACH funding applications as well as follow-on SBIR, STTR, or venture funding
•Understanding of key value-add milestones
•Ability to motivate and work with others at different levels to deliver important milestones while maintaining a positive and collaborative team environment
•Ability to establish priorities
•Network of contacts with regulatory experience, potential subject matter experts, and potential development partners within academic institutions, local biotech and life science partners, and pharma
