Learning opportunities for the successfulcandidate include training in enzymology, HTS assay design, virtual screening,and computer-aided methods in drug development.
The Hevener Laboratory at UTHSCfocuses on the validation and characterization of novel infectious disease drugtargets using both experimental and computational methods. This project focuseson a target in the bacterial fatty acid synthesis pathway and will involvex-ray co-crystallography and structure-guided lead optimization. Negotiable release time will bepermitted for the development of independent projects.
