Responsible for performing collection activities on simple and complex infusion drug denials and outstanding insurance balances. Key responsibilities include follow-up on delinquent accounts, updating and maintaining accurate financial records including patient accounting receivable records with sole purpose to secure payment of open patient accounts/medical claims. Responsible for initiating calls to insurance payers, patients and/or providers by phone, mail to settle accounts. Must be able to meet or exceed productivity expectations.
Responsible for resolving and collecting on aged insurance claims on behalf of client sites
Contact insurance carriers by phone and/or payer websites to ensure payment is received, through customer collection activities, including but, not limited to, claim status updates, resubmission of claims, underpayment requests, submitting appeals, etc.
Perform and document actions that will lead to payment in a clear, concise and actionable follow-up notes in system for each account worked.
Identify, analyze and escalate trends impacting AR collections
Meets and/or exceeds established daily collections and productivity goals
Required to correspond with patients, insurance companies, other departments and physician offices.
Some seasonal activities may be assigned to help improve collection activities
1-3+ years relevant experience
2+ years experience within a healthcare environment; Medical claims experience.
2+ years of prior A/R collections experience
Successful in an environment with daily productivity goals
Must have experience and comfort level in making calls to payors
Negotiation skills and experience
Strong communication skills - ability to collaborate with patients, physicians, referrals, and providers
Ability to review patient billing and medical information to determine if patients' diagnosis qualify and products required are covered
Strong attention to detail - ensuring accurate information for all necessary medical documentation
Must be open to flexible day hours, Monday through Friday
Additional Knowledge & Skills
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
High School Diploma
