Position Summary: This position supports the mission of The Medical Center of Aurora. The Exercise Physiologist performs prescribed non-invasive cardiovascular procedures and stress testing to patients under the supervision of a cardiologist, advanced practice provider, and imaging leaders. Duties include scheduling, explaining procedures to patients, monitoring their responses to tests, equipment maintenance, and detailed record keeping/reporting ensuring optimal care/treatment of patients. The specialist also prepares patients, equipment and materials used in diagnostic procedures. The physiologist operates, calibrates and maintains diagnostic equipment and records the patient's response. Prepares preliminary reports for final interpretation by the cardiologist. Perform exercise, cardiac, nuclear, pharmaceutical, echo stress tests, Holter testing and analysis, and EKGs as prescribed. Recognizes chest pain, arrhythmias, life-threatening arrhythmias associated with stress testing responds/obtains appropriate and immediate assistance as needed. Ensures an accurate and readable recording using deductive reasoning to trouble shoot minor problems, make adjustments as needed during the procedure and prepares recordings for interpretation. Collects and/or reviews pertinent medical, historical, and medication information in order to perform the appropriate study prescribed by the physician. Works with physicians and serves as the technical expert on various Non-Invasive testing applications. Assists with computerized charting and order entry. Assists with activities to improve department processes, facilitate testing and maintain quality to achieve optimal patient results. When need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Degree of supervision required: Involves general guidance and direction by the Director and Manager. Care supervision will be performed by the delegating NP. Employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
