This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more This Chief, Pharmacy Service position is located within Pharmacy Service at the Dayton VA Medical Center, Dayton, Ohio and works independently under the Associate Director or designee, keeping them apprised of trends and/or problems associated with Pharmacy Service operations. The Dayton VAMC is a Level 1C facility with medical/surgical beds, nursing home beds, residential treatment beds and four community-based outpatient clinics located within the Dayton VISN10 Veteran service area. The incumbent is responsible for providing leadership, direction, coordination, organization, planning, and implementation of pharmaceutical programs and policies while following and emulating the principles of a High Reliability Organization. This position shares a full range of responsibilities for managing and supervising all phases of the Pharmacy Service operations including strict adherence to all pharmacy policies and procedures. The Chief, Pharmacy Service plans, directs, and coordinates comprehensive pharmacy services in a complex affiliated institution. The incumbent will interact with other members of the Medical Center staff in a responsible manner while rendering quality care with Veterans in mind. Performs other related duties as assigned by the immediate Supervisor and/or their designee. FUNCTIONS OR SCOPE OF ASSIGNED DUTIES: Chief, Pharmacy Service Management Functions The incumbent will perform the following duties: Represents Dayton VAMC Pharmacy Service in the community and in the Medical Center through membership on various standing and ADHOC committees. Responsible for all aspects of pharmacy services at the medical facility by maintaining effective interdepartmental relationships demonstrating active problem resolution skills and close cooperation with other programs and services in accomplishing the medical facility mission and goals. Responsible for budget management, determining resource needs, allocating resources, ensuring proper utilization in productivity, efficiency, and cost effectiveness of the operation. Formulates objectives, priorities and implements plans consistent with the long-term interest of the organization, capitalizing on opportunities and managing risks. Responsible for compliance with all safety, regulatory and accrediting body requirements. Delegates authority to several supervisory and program levels to meet the goals of the service and staff. Ensures orientation and training programs are established to ensure staff development, oversees academic affiliations, and participates in medical facility, VISN, National, other external governmental agencies, and professional associations.
