About the Institute. The Institute for Addiction Science is one of the nation’s first university-wide comprehensive transdisciplinary addiction institutes.  Founded in 2018, the Institute is unique in its breadth and depth of addiction research and education, which spans basic, clinical, behavioral, social, and population sciences and promotes substantial transdisciplinary collaboration bridging these scientific areas.  The Institute brings together 63 faculty from 9 different colleges and schools across USC to conduct transdisciplinary research, education, and community outreach to improve the lives of those touched by addiction.  Through bringing scholars together and providing an infrastructure to support synergy and collaboration, the mission of IAS is to generate innovative and impactful addiction research and education programs that advance the science, prevention, and treatment of addiction.

Department of Preventive Medicine Institute for Addiction Science (IAS) is recruiting for the position of the Clinical Operations Senior Project Manager (COSPM).  This person will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and execution of IAS Clinical Research Core, being mindful of the studies’ budgets, resources, and outcomes. This individual will lead meetings pertaining to study start-up, execution, and close-out. In addition, this person will oversee regulatory submissions and compliance, ensure participant safety, assist with data auditing, and the hiring and training of research personnel. The COSPM manages the Clinical Research Core’s milestones and communicates and coordinates with IAS Principal Investigators.  This person will lead efforts in ensure continued recruitment and retention of research participants. The COSPM assists with creating budgets for newly proposed research studies and monitoring expenditures. They will assist the Institute’s leadership in developing standard operating procedures and with the submission of progress reports. The COSPM will oversee staff, students and volunteers as the Institute grows.  The ideal candidate would have experience working in academic settings and program management as well as exceptional interpersonal skills and experience conducting clinical research studies, specifically studies related to addiction.  A Master’s degree is preferred but not required.  To apply, please send a cover letter describing interest and fit for the position, CV or resume, and the names and contact information for three professional references.
