Current Need

We are seeking a Senior Director of Precision Medicine to join our team in a remote work from home role.

Position Description

The Sr. Director of Precision Medicine will develop and execute a comprehensive precision medicine program for the entire US Oncology Network, comprised of: clinical initiatives to implement operational standards; leverage innovative technology such as decision support tools and building a database; vet third party lab vendors and prioritize relationships; also to create educational opportunities for community oncologists on appropriate molecular testing. The candidate will be responsible for understanding and managing precision medicine programs to set criteria for success, draft and implement plans to reach them, and address key barriers to adoption. Developing requirements for program management, workflow integration and technology needs will also be essential. This is a leadership role with ownership and accountability of precision medicine for The US Oncology Network and US Oncology Research.

This role is looking for a strong program leader who will deliver value to The US Oncology Network by running clinical programs, contributing to strategic planning, support initiatives lead by McKesson's data business and actively contribute to the evolving precision medicine strategy.

Lastly, this role also manages vendor relationships (such as lab vendors) and work in partnership with internal McKesson teams who will also support the program such as the technology team leading the EMR solution, and US Oncology Research. Close collaboration with key stakeholders in a highly matrixed environment is key to program success.

Key Responsibilities:

Precision Medicine content development and technology alignment

• Direct the creation, cadence and process for updates, and maintenance of assigned disease specific biomarker order guides in conjunction with physician executives (e.g., President, CSO, CMO and ad hoc Network providers) on solid tumors and hematologic malignancies

• Partner with clinical technology team to integrate molecular testing guidelines into relevant clinical decision support tools

• Partner with clinical technology team and lab vendors to define requirements to get molecular test results returned to the EMR/CVP in structured fields

• Ensure content and workflow are compelling to drive physician adoption and data entry

• Provide subject matter expertise to teams across the specialty provider organization

Adoption management and execution

• Develop comprehensive education and adoption plan to ensure widespread physician engagement

• Accountable for addressing physician barriers and challenges related to limited test ordering, data entry, etc.

• Responsible for developing a compelling performance scorecard and tools to manage the precision medicine program comprehensively

• Works collaboratively with preferred lab vendor to deploy educational material, training programs and peer-to-peer reviews to enhance awareness and expand precision medicine awareness and adoption

• Garners support from lab vendors for practice level (and in the future, perhaps Network level) molecular tumor boards

• Evaluates outside vendors for technology support for molecular tumor boards

Research Alignment: Support research, pharmaceutical and lab partners in efforts to collaborate on molecular testing education and research programs for targeted drug therapy

• Support US Oncology Research programs and align performance measures to ensure success; collaborate on research proposals and other initiatives that drive novel trials

• Partner with others such as Chief Scientific Officer to enhance workflow and technology for clinical trial matching

Leadership and managerial oversight

• Setting performance objectives for direct reports

• Coordination and alignment with other managers regarding indirect reports contributing to precision medicine program

Minimum Requirements

13+ years of professional experience and 6+ years of diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization, and people motivation skills (or equivalent experience).

Critical Skills:

• 5+ years experience with strategic program management and/or developing and executing business strategies (healthcare preferred)

• 5+ years experience with facilitation, negotiation, problem-solving and change management

• Expert proficiency in business applications and communications through MS Office, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint.

Additional Skills:

• Experience with precision medicine programs and/or data analytics initiatives a strong plus

• Enjoys working with technology teams to help support a program through technology

• Strong oral, written and presentation skills with ability to explain complex concepts clearly to a variety of audiences

• Superior ability to work in a self-directed manner while balancing a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and competing demands.

• Expertise and demonstrated success in operational excellence and deployment of programs

• Strong project management and execution skills including attention to detail and commitment to consistently meeting timelines and operating from a sense of urgency.

• Demonstrated ability to lead multi-stakeholder projects, including client or customer-facing projects.

• Ability to successfully navigate in a matrixed work environment

• Success managing ongoing relationships, including primarily by remote communications (phone, email, web conference).

• Leadership and management skills with experience working in a matrix organization

Education

4-year degree of equivalent experience

Physical Requirements

General office demands.

Travel

Travel up to 30% to client sites, business partners and internal meetings.

Salary Range (for Colorado Residents only)

$170,000-195,000 Annual Base Salary

Up to 25% Annual Bonus Opportunity
