McKesson is looking for an experienced leader with Billing, Coding, and Documentation experience. This position is responsible for providing consulting services to specialty physician practices, billing departments, hospital outpatient settings and other related healthcare entities with a concentration on coding/compliance audits of physician and hospital outpatient claims coupled with coding education.
Partner with McKesson's specialty provider infusion practices (remote & onsite) to support billing, coding, and provider documentation best practices. Advise the practice core team to prioritize, adhere to timelines, motivate, communicate, educate, assess, and mitigate program risk. Demonstrates thorough understanding and ability to research all aspects of coding, compliance, documentation, and reimbursement for assigned specialties. Perform coding, compliance, and documentation audits of physician and hospital outpatient services, either at the practice location or remotely, per customer preference and consistent with the scope of the agreement. Collate, transfer and analyze all auditing results to capture and illustrate risk issues, revenue leakage and educational opportunities. Provide physician/practice feedback, initial and ongoing education and training regarding proper clinical documentation guidelines, service selection, charge capture and timely submission, healthcare data accuracy and coding principles. Perform comprehensive assessments of charge capture reports, review patient records for accuracy and compliance, and reconciliation procedures to ensure all services provided were charged appropriately and reported accurately. Create and deliver accurate and well-written audit reports, including clear explanations of errors as well as authoritative guidance for coding recommendations for all projects. Prepare customize training materials to the practice's specific needs. Function as a subject matter expert in Billing, Coding, and Documentation in order to support practices and the Advisory Services team. Contribute to communications and education. Assist in coordination and to conduct program and practice meetings and events to promote the participation in Billing, Coding, and Documentation engagements. Contribute to the development of tools and/or software to help support the customer's Billing and Coding needs. Develop education, best practices, and consultative offerings using McKesson technology.
5+ years' experience in project management.
Five years of experience in Billing and Coding programs/projects with concurrent process, people, and technology activities.
Success delivering complex programs/projects on time, on budget and meeting scope and quality expectations.
Experience in healthcare, coding, documentation and reimbursement, patient processes, business office procedures and/or management.
Ability to interpret and analyze data from reports such as accounts receivable, aging, bad debt, top denials, insurance variance etc.
Knowledge of organization policies and procedures and health care administration principals.
Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM and HCPCS coding related to Evaluation and Management, oncology, and multi-specialty practices.
Extensive education and training of 2021 Evaluation and Management guidelines
Ability to work collaboratively across multiple functional departments and work streams.
Intermediate skills with MS Office to include Excel and PowerPoint.
Highly detail-oriented individual with outstanding analytical and writing skills.
Professional communication skills with the ability to present to all levels including executive leadership.
Additional Knowledge & Skills
Experience with Healthcare including Clinical Delivery, Managed Care, Revenue Cycle Management, Commercial/Regulatory Quality Programs/Measurement, Electronic Medical Records and or Electronic Health Records (especially EHRs used in an ambulatory and/or oncology setting) is an advantage. Job experience as a consultant, educator, or compliance professional in healthcare is preferred.
4-year degree in related field or equivalent experience. AHIMA or AAPC coding credential is preferred. Must be willing to obtain coding certification within one year. Master's degree in Business, Healthcare Management, Clinical area, Engineering, or similar is an asset.
Travel estimated at 30% or less. It may vary during the lifetime of the program.
