The Vice President, Business Development is a field-based strategic sales leadership position working with life sciences partners in oncology. You will be responsible for building strategic relationships at the highest levels within a life sciences partner account, with a focus on oncology franchise and functional leaders with visibility across clinical, and commercial functions. You will act as trusted advisor between ontada and our top life sciences customers and serve as a liaison with other McKesson teams. with aggressive account growth expectations.
The VP, Business Development will lead a team that supports our life sciences partners in advancing their RWE research and commercial data and insights priorities using ontada portfolio of RWE/CI offerings. You will be responsible for generating new business and retaining existing business for our full line of data commercial solutions, including Commercial Intelligence, and Real-World Evidence (RWE/HEOR) in the United States. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Sales you will work closely together to execute on sales engagement, effectiveness and customer strategy to drive sales, revenue and other goals by acquiring new business and growing wallet share within life science accounts. In addition, this role will work collaboratively across the organization to determine ways to partner internally to drive the commercial success of ontada , as well as the larger McKesson organization. A strong background and passion in Oncology is preferred.
Lead a sales team that supports our life sciences partners in advancing their RWE research and commercial data and insights priorities using ontada portfolio of RWE/CI offerings
Lead sales team that cross commercial insights, data and RWE research offerings and market segments within oncology.
Grows sales of across our portfolio of Commercial Intelligence and Real-World Evidence offerings through strategic acquisition of new business and expansion of existing business within strategic accounts that meet or exceeds sales objectives.
Proactively identifies and implements ways to identify, acquire new business and grow business with life science accounts by adopting a consultative sales approach that focuses on research solutions and partnership with customers.
Acts as a primary point-of-contact for potential customers across the end-to-end product lifecycle including within Commercial Brands, Market Access, Business Analytics, Medical/Medical Affairs, HEOR, Global Evidence and Value, Research and Development, RWE and Analytics and related communication/education.
Acts as a point of contact within ontada CI/RWE/HEOR Team
Leads and supports team development of key account plans and has a strong grasp of the span of business in place and the pipeline with their accounts.
Builds and sustains a pipeline of new business opportunities, managing pipeline through close in CRM via SalesForce.com
Manage the entire sales process - lead through opportunity to proposal to selection and contracting
Consistent quarterly execution; meeting and exceeding sales quotas
Support ontada's strategic approach to long term partnerships with biopharma users of our research and commercial intelligence portfolio offerings, as well as other strategic collaborators across the oncology ecosystem (e.g. regulatory, payer, HTA, and advocacy groups). Advise on life science enterprise offering needs and determine appropriate engagement opportunities.
Supports the development of biopharma "anchor partnerships", collaborating with the relevant internal Commercial and Operations leaders, ultimately focusing on an anchor partner (Company)
Use market expertise to foster long-term relationships and establish a strategic growth plan for life sciences partner, reflecting our current positioning and portfolio product offerings
Negotiates relationships and processes with internal customers to create efficiencies and identify opportunities for sales, product and operational growth in an atmosphere of respect demonstrating ICARE and ILEAD guiding principles
Coordinates across McKesson to drive a consistent, high quality customer experience
Typically has 12+ years of professional experience and 4+ years diversified leadership, planning, communication, organization and people motivation skill
10+ years of experience in client-facing roles of increasing responsibility, delivering products, services or analyses to life science companies, in organizations such as: Healthcare focused analytics firm, Health tech firm, Top 3 consulting firm, Life sciences consulting firm or experience working in life sciences industry related to RWE, Value, HEOR, access.
7+ years in Sales leadership
Ability to engage directly with biopharma partners to help advance their research and business-related strategies using RWD/RWE
Participated in innovative projects in the healthcare industry, oncology preferred, that involve solutions development, managing project timelines, data analyses, supporting client communication and cross-functional team collaboration
Detail oriented with a strong desire to develop content expertise (e.g., RWE, clinical oncology, HEOR, RWD sources) have experience analyzing and/or applying RWE to research questions and value proposition
The ideal candidate will have keen understanding of the pharmaceutical research process, with ability to use knowledge to identify client needs, problem solve by working with our scientists to develop solutions that leverage ontada unique data assets. Demonstrated success in a similar role in the past, ideally exceeding sales targets, as well as a history of prospecting, building and growing existing account/partner relationships and an ability to establish a presence at new accounts. Desire to be part of a mission-driven business whose goal is to advance cancer care.
Experience in oncology is strongly preferred.
