Pharmacy Practice Specialist - Investigational Drug Services

The Department of Pharmaceutical Care at University of Iowa Healthcare is seeking a Pharmacy Practice Specialist which provides pharmaceutical care to patients receiving investigational drug services (IDS) and support to principle investigators and study coordinators. It also serves as a role-model/practitioner-educator for Doctor of Pharmacy Students. With other IDS staff, this position will facilitate implementation of investigational studies including but not limited to: review study protocol, G-12 and informed consent documents; meet with principle investigators and study coordinators; meet with study sponsors; create inventory logs and dispensing protocols for IDS and non-IDS dispensed studies; review dispensing locations outside of pharmacy for investigator-dispensed studies; ensure appropriate EMR record creation; complete all maintenance activities for studies and dispense investigational medications for inpatient and outpatient studies. Position includes supervision of pharmacy technicians, students and support staff on a daily basis as well as participating with residency training and student teaching programs.
