Summary of Duties:
The laboratory of Dr. Zhaokang Cheng in the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Washington State University in Spokane, WA invites applications for a temporary full-time, non-tenure-track position,12 month appointment as a Postdoctoral Research Associate. The major focus of our research program is to identify novel mechanisms of cell death (apoptosis, necrosis, and autophagy-associated cell death) in heart diseases such as myocardial infarction and anthracycline cardiomyopathy. This is a temporarily funded, one (1) year renewable appointment. Renewal is dependent on your performance appraisal, mutual consent, and available funding.
Applicants must have a recent PhD degree in biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology or a closely related field prior to the hire date.
Successful candidates should have significant biomedical research experience as demonstrated by first-author publication(s) in internationally recognized, peer-reviewed journals.
Required technical skills include cell culture, western blotting, immunohistochemistry, immunoprecipitation, quantitative RT-PCR, and animal models of human disease.
Candidates are expected to be self-motivated, work independently, and have strong scientific English language skills.
Knowledge in cardiovascular biology and pathophysiology.
Monthly Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
