DMC Receiving Hospital
Under general supervision assumes responsibility for purchasing routine equipment, supplies, pharmaceuticals and services from suppliers through competitive bidding and negotiations consistent with considerations of quality, reliability of source, urgency of need and DMC practices and standards. Prepares analysis of information collected and in conjunction with other Procurement staff, makes recommendations to each department regarding award of contracts for purchase of services, supplies, pharmaceuticals and equipment. Receives purchase requests from departments for routine equipment, supplies, pharmaceuticals and services, meets with department representatives to review purchasing needs and requirements. Requests and utilizes inter-department services pertinent to provision of purchasing services. Develops and maintains contact with sales representatives and manufacturers to evaluate and review goods and services offered. Prepares reports on product research, standards and cost analysis to discuss with department concerning vendor, product and price; selects or recommends suppliers with whom orders are to be placed; prepares purchase orders. Resolves invoice discrepancies and/or disputes with vendors and involved DMC personnel. Appropriately handles all pharmaceuticals for dispensing and inventory purposes according to established department policies and procedures. #LI-DR1 Qualifications: 1. High School diploma, Bachelor's degree preferred. 2. Two or more years progressively more responsible purchasing experience in a health setting or related experience. Thorough knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures related to purchasing. 3. Licensed as a Pharmacy Technician in the State of Michigan.
