Under the general supervision of the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Pharmacy is responsible for overseeing the distribution and clinical activities of the Department of Pharmacy Services at Doctors Medical Center and ensuring the provision of quality pharmaceutical services to all patients, hospital personnel, and medical staff. The Director is responsible for the overall management of operations and activities of Pharmacy at Doctors Medical Center including distribution and clinical activities, staff development, procurement and control of medications and supplies, and financial management; acts as a liaison with nursing, medical staff, and other health care services regarding pharmacy operations; coordinates activities relating to medication error reduction, formulary management, medication usage evaluation, clinical programs, and in-service education; ensures compliance with State/Federal laws and regulations, regulatory agencies, and hospital and departmental policies and procedures; implements programs/services which are consistent with Hospital and Department mission and goals, and meet the standards of practice as established by the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists.

Graduate from an accredited school of Pharmacy. Doctor of Pharmacy degree or Master degree in Pharmacy, Business Administration or Public Health preferred. Completion of a Hospital Pharmacy Residency Program or Board Certified Pharmacy Specialist is desirable or must have equivalent managerial experience.

A minimum of five (5) years hospital experience as a pharmacist is required with demonstrated competence and a high level of knowledge in clinical and distribution practices; a minimum of three (3) years experience in a supervisory or management position with experience in managing hospital pharmacy operations. Proficient written and verbal communication skills are required. Active member in a professional organization is highly encouraged.

Current CA pharmacist license as provided by the California State Board of Pharmacy.
