Assistant/Associate/Full Specialist - Altschuler and Wu Lab Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry University of California, San Francisco

The Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry is now recruiting a Specialist at the Assistant, Associate or Full ranks. This position in the Altschuler and Wu lab is critical to develop a platform to accelerate early drug target discovery for diverse ALS subtypes. The applicant is expected to establish studies by performing image-based screens to study neurodegenerative diseases as well as performing lab management duties.

Required Qualifications:
• Degree in biology, neuroscience or other relevant fields
• Must have a master’s degree (or equivalent degree) or at least five to ten years of research experience to be appointed at the Assistant or Associate ranks.
• Must have (or be in process of obtaining) a terminal degree (or equivalent degree) or at least ten or more years of research experience to be appointed at the Full rank.
• A minimal requirement of a full time 18-month commitment.
• Track record working in stem cell biology, neuronal biology, or other cell culture models of neuro degeneration.
• Experience in immunofluorescence staining and microscopy, high-throughput assays, standard molecular biology, and wet lab techniques.
• Track record of communication skills, including, but not limited to, working effectively in a team and as a communicator, or publications and presentations in scientific conferences.
