Job Description

We are looking for an experienced long only Equity Portfolio Manager to join our asset management team currently managing and advising on over $10bln of assets for insurance clients and third party capital. This position is plays a key role in the investment decision making process, and will manage research analysts as well as maintain relationships with an extended research team. The Portfolio Manager will come from a fundamental driven investment background, collect and analyze financial information for stocks within target sectors, to build financial models to explore future scenarios of the stocks on a company and wider macroeconomic level, and make investment decisions for our global equities portfolios. The ideal candidate will have a solid track record of performing above market benchmark and combine a strong quantitative skill set with a range of qualitative skills in order to effectively communicate their investment thesis to the wider investment committee as well internal stakeholders and external clients.

Essential Duties

• Create and maintain earnings, valuation, and industrial models for stocks in portfolio.
• Analyze data to identify emerging opportunities and risks, build forward looking financial models to support the investment thesis
• Review and present research reports to the internal investment committee as well as external stake holders.
• Provide BUY/SELL/HOLD recommendations for various investment mandates.
• Evaluate new issue investment opportunities
• Conduct meetings and sustain relationships with management teams, sell-side analysts, rating agency analysts and industry experts; and responding to requests for models and ad-hoc analysis.
• Maintain constant coverage of industry-related news, trends, and developments. Disseminate your insight when appropriate to internal and external stakeholders.
• Build relationships with investor relations teams of your portfolio companies.
• Devise and perform your own primary research methods, keeping abreast of trends and sentiment in the market.
• Liaise with internal sales and trading teams for responding to news, corporate action, and reporting events. You will be expected to maintain a procedure protocol for escalating emerging news.
• Maintain a public image for the firm at conferences/events. Communicate the company's research, building its brand and referring potential new clients.

Required Qualifications

• Sector coverage preference: TMT Internet, pharmaceuticals and consumer

• Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, financial engineering, statistics, or econometrics
• Profound understanding of equity markets on a global level. In addition, a deep understanding of fundamental analysis, financial modeling, asset allocation, and strategy research
• Minimum 12 years of buy-side or sell-side equity research and/or investment banking experience
• Excellent finance, accounting and math skills
• Solid proficiency with Bloomberg, Excel, Word and PowerPoint
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Mandarin and English, Proficiency for presenting and debating a point under pressure useful
• HK SFC RO Type 1, 4, 9 and CFA qualification preferred
