A Postdoctoral Fellow positionis available in the laboratory of Dr.M. Dennis Leo to study physiological functions andpathological alterations in arterial smooth muscle and endothelial cells.Molecular biology and biochemistry experience are required. Cardiovascularphysiology and/or electrophysiology experience is preferred but not mandatory.
Projects include studyingsignaling mechanisms, trafficking and regulation of blood pressure by ionchannels and insulin receptor signaling pathways. Techniques used includeRT-PCR, Western blotting, biotinylation, immunofluorescence, FRET, calciumimaging, pressurized artery myography and blood pressure telemetry. The labuses a combination of cell culture, inducible rodent disease models andconditional knockout mouse models.
Since this positioninvolves significant collaboration with other PI's in the College of Medicineand the College of Pharmacy at UTHSC, prospective applicants should haveexcellent communication and teamwork skills and be willing to learn newtechniques.
