The Pharmacy Department at The Children’s Hospital at Saint Francis with over 65,000 admissions annually and nearly 35,000 visits to our Pediatric Emergency Center. • “A place for every child” says it all. The Children’s Hospital at Saint Francis offers numerous programs and services for specific diseases in addition to general care for common childhood illnesses. The Children’s Hospital at Saint Francis is the training site for the University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University Medical Centers pediatric medical residency programs. • The St. Jude Affiliate Clinic at The Children’s Hospital at Saint Francis opened in 2016 and is the eighth affiliate clinic for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, with a clinical pharmacy support. Pharmacy Department Our mission is to provide accurate, safe, effective and timely pharmaceutical care for patients at Saint Francis Hospital, The Children’s Hospital at Saint Francis, Saint Francis Hospital South, Laureate Psychiatric Clinics,, Saint Francis Hospital Muskogee, Saint Francis Hospital Vinita, Saint Francis Hospital Broken Arrow, Saint Francis Cancer Center, and warren Clinic.. The department strives to be recognized as a regional and national innovator and leader in medication safety. To achieve this vision, the department utilizes medication safety technologies such as automated dispensing cabinets, inventory carousels, bar code medication administration, smart pump technology, and an electronic medical record system. The department is also committed to training the next generation of pharmacists and is affiliated with our two state colleges of pharmacy. Pediatric clinical pharmacy services are provided in the NICU, PICU, General Pediatrics, Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Vancomycin Monitoring and others. Pediatric clinical pharmacists are integrated in several multidisciplinary teams, including the Code Blue, OB Crisis, Pediatric Stroke, Pediatric Trauma and Critical Rapid Intervention Team. PROGRAM PURPOSE The purpose of this twelve-month program is to develop competent, confident practitioners equipped to meet the challenges of contemporary pharmacy practice with an emphasis in process improvement principles. The residency experience provides a solid foundation of skills essential for advanced hospital practice or the pursuit of additional, specialized post-graduate pharmacy training.
