The specialized residency in psychiatric pharmacy practice is offered through Nova Southeastern University College of Pharmacy. Practice opportunities exist at South Florida State Hospital, the Miami Veterans Administration Medical Center, Jackson Memorial Hospital, and the West Palm Beach Veterans Administration Medical Center. It is a directed postgraduate program that centers on developing the competencies necessary to provide pharmaceutical care to psychiatric patients.
This residency and the criteria for evaluation are designed to parallel or meet the standards as set forth by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). As part of the residency training experience, the resident will be given the opportunity to participate in both the didactic and clerkship education of pharmacy students. Additionally, the resident will be expected to originate a plan, develop a protocol, and conduct a clinical research project in an area of interest with the intention of presenting or publishing the results of their study.

Our residency programs aim to provide the highest level of training in a variety of settings and represents the ideal location to complete post-graduate training. Residents also have opportunities to have strong teaching and clinical experiences, which prepares them for clinical and academic positions.
