PGY1 Pharmacy Residency
MATCH NUMBER: 165813 At Providence St. Mary Medical Center (PSMMC) there are four post-graduate year one (PGY1) pharmacy resident positions. Our program is a one-year clinical and administrative program which meets the four main requirements outlined by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists including acute patient care, practice foundation skills, and practice management. As a pharmacy resident you will benefit from our unique training program that takes advantage of the wide variety of learning experiences within both acute and ambulatory care settings. This residency program is designed to provide a broad overview of institutional pharmacy practice and is tailored to meet the needs of each resident. Graduates will be prepared to provide advanced pharmaceutical care services to a wide variety of patients in diverse practice settings. Learning Experiences: CORE - clinical leadership, critical care, infectious disease, internal medicine, operations, pharmacy management, and transitions of care. ELECTIVES - ambulatory care, cardiology, emergency medicine, nephrology, oncology, pharmacotherapy clinic, and population health. Residents will complete an investigation of an aspect of pharmacy practice, which will span the length of their residency. You will also have teaching opportunities throughout your residency, including; didactic lectures, small group teaching in Pharmaceutical Care Laboratory and assistance with precepting 4th-year students on rotations, as well as the ability to obtain adjunct faculty status as clinical instructors or a teaching certificate at Washington State University College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. As a pharmacy resident, you will be an employee of PSMMC and will qualify for employee benefits. The residency program supports travel to state, regional and national meetings.

Applicant Requirements Prior to the start of the program, the resident shall be a graduate of a college of pharmacy accredited by the American Council of Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE) and shall be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Washington. Residents not licensed as a pharmacist at the beginning of the residency must be licensed as a pharmacy intern in the state of Washington. The applicant shall meet all the requirements for employment at PSMMC and meet the professional requirements of the Washington State Board Department of Pharmacy. Strong residency candidates will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, professionalism, leadership, and demonstrate a commitment to the provision of pharmaceutical care. Candidates must participate in the ASHP resident matching program.
