Cape Fear Valley Health Community Based PGY1
Campbell University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences
Campbell University and Cape Fear Valley Health offer a PGY1 community- based residency program to develop knowledge and skills to provide pharmacotherapy for patients in the community setting. Cape Fear Valley Health’s large system of clinics and outpatient pharmacies serve as practice sites for a variety of clinical rotations for pharmacy residents and students. The health system also has a Graduate Medical Education program associated with Campbell University providing significant opportunities for interprofessional collaboration. Upon completion of the residency program, residents will be able to practice as a pharmacist clinician in a community-based setting or be eligible for PGY2 positions in the specialty of their choosing. The program will offer one PGY1 position, competitive salary and benefits, as well as a travel stipend to ASHP Midyear, the NCAP annual meeting, and the Southeastern Residency Conference in Athens, Georgia. This residency offers a unique opportunity to develop and implement direct patient care programs in outpatient pharmacies and clinics. The community-based pharmacy resident will be responsible for providing pharmaceutical care to patients through a variety of rotation experiences. The resident will learn the fundamentals of teaching during a teaching development series. These teaching skills will be applied during multiple courses for Doctor of Pharmacy students at Campbell University in didactic and case discussion sessions. The residents will also assist in precepting 4th year Doctor of Pharmacy students and have opportunities for providing continuing education programs for healthcare practitioners. A teaching certificate will be awarded to residents who complete the teaching development series. https://cphs.campbell.edu/academic-programs/pharmacy/residency-programs/
