PGY1 Pharmacy Residency

The ASHP-accredited PGY1 residency is a 12 month program. Clinical rotations are offered in a wide variety of specialties and are tailored to the individual resident. While on clinical services, the resident’s responsibilities include working with the medical staff through participation in daily rounds, monitoring drug therapy, providing pharmacokinetic recommendations, and attending various meetings. Other responsibilities include completion of a major research project that is presented at the ASHP Midyear Meeting and the regional residency conference, multiple presentations, and assisting with the education of pharmacy students from several colleges of pharmacy. The resident is also expected to be involved with various hospital committees including P&T, Pharmacy/Nursing, and Patient Safety. As a pharmacy resident, in addition to rotation responsibilities, you are afforded the opportunity to be a member of the hospital’s pharmacy staff and serve as a pharmacist in the department. Residents receive full MDMC employee benefits including insurance, sick time, and vacation. Travel support is provided for the ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting and the regional residency conference. The ASHP-accredited residency program is designed to provide residents expanded involvement in those areas where special interests exist. MDMC provides a variety of exceptional clinical programs and services, including multi-organ transplantation, neurology, cardiology, oncology, physical rehabilitation services, adult internal medicine, maternity, neonatology, and emergency/trauma care. In order to be considered for the residency program at Methodist Dallas Medical Center, you must complete each of the following steps:
Requirements for Acceptance Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy, eligibility for employment by the hospital and full Texas licensure within 90 days of employment, participation in the residency matching program, and an interview (likely virtual for 2021).
