ACPHS/Capital Cardiology Associates
This residency will provide extensive training in drug therapy management for patients with cardiovascular diseases. Focused in ambulatory care, residents will have the opportunity to advance their skills and evidence-based knowledge of CV disease states, yet will also have the unique opportunity to promote the growth of clinical pharmacy services. Residents who successfully complete this program will be prepared for advanced patient care and academic practice, along with board certification in cardiology pharmacy (BCCP). The program will provide training and experience to the resident through exposure to a variety of cardiovascular disease states, direct patient care, practice-based research and teaching. Primary residency activities will take place at Capital Cardiology Associates, Albany Medical Center and ACPHS. The resident will be provided opportunities to promote the growth of clinical pharmacy services in an ambulatory care setting, develop and initiate new services and help provide outcome evidence of pharmacist-involvement. Affiliated with the School of Pharmacy & Pharmaceutical Sciences at Albany College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences (ACPHS), the resident will be provided opportunities to engage in educational activities including didactic and experiential precepting opportunities with Doctor of Pharmacy students. Residents will have the opportunity to complete the ACPHS Teaching and Learning Certificate program. The resident will also develop advanced clinical pharmacy and leadership skills by providing continuing education to healthcare practitioners, including routine in-services. Residents who successfully complete this program will be prepared for advanced patient care and/or academic practice.
