Residency Special Features: The pharmacy practice residency provides an opportunity for an individual to acquire skills necessary to become a clinical practitioner capable of providing comprehensive pharmaceutical care to a variety of patients. Clinical experiences include internal medicine, critical care, emergency medicine, infectious disease, pediatrics, neonatal, geriatrics, psychiatry, administration, drug information, informatics medication safety, and oncology. Residents participate in student preceptorship, journal clubs, case presentations, a one year-long research project to be presented at the Southeastern Residency Conference in the spring, two Medication Use Evaluations, P&T Com...mittee, Medication Safety Committee, staffing, and other activities. In addition, residents have the opportunity to participate in a teaching program at South University School of Pharmacy where they will gain experiential and didactic teaching strategies and will be eligible to receive a teaching certification after completion of the program.

Site Special Features: MUMC is the largest hospital in southeast Georgia and has clinical specialties in the areas of orthopedics/neurology/rehabilitation, cardiovascular medicine, and oncology. Along with the inpatient oncology unit, MUMC serves patients in an outpatient oncology clinic, The Curtis and Elizabeth Anderson Cancer Institute. In addition to general medical and surgical services, MUMC offers a variety of critical care specialty services, including the region’s only level I trauma center that has received ALS verification for Trauma Service. MUMC has a 56-bed level III neonatal intensive care unit as well as a children's hospital, which is actively involved with Investigational Research Medications. MHUMC is the only teaching hospital in Savannah, which is affiliated with Mercer University School of Medicine. Memorial Health provides tertiary care to 35 counties in southeast Georgia and southern South Carolina.
