Northside Hospital PGY2 Oncology Residency
Northside Hospital
Northside Hospital’s PGY2 Oncology Residency Program seeks to develop competent and confident practitioners of pharmaceutical care in the oncology arena. Pharmacists and residents practice via a Pharmaceutical Care model: "direct, responsible provision of medication-related care for the purpose of achieving definite outcomes that improve a patient’s quality of life". Completion of the program will prepare residents to practice in a variety of patient-care environments and equip them to meet the challenges of current and future pharmacy practice. They will be accountable for achieving optimal drug therapy outcomes as members of the Northside Hospital health care team. Residents will exercise skill in educating other health care professionals, patients, and the community on oncology-related topics. They will demonstrate professional maturity through developing and following a personal philosophy of practice, monitoring their own performance, and exhibiting commitment to their profession. Completion of the program will prepare residents to practice in a variety of oncology-centered patient-care environments. With mastery of the above skills and from previous years’ experiences, Northside residents will be able to seamlessly transition to a variety of positions; oncology clinical pharmacists, entry-level academia, and entry-level hospital leadership. Skills and knowledge residents gain during the 2nd residency year, equip them to meet the challenges of cur-rent and future oncology pharmacy practice and ensure successful transition into the next stage of their career. The PGY2 Program is ASHP accredited.
