Montefiore Medical Center Pharmacy Residency Program
Montefiore Medical Center
The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Montefiore Medical Center seeks to develop a pharmacist into a more highly trained, competent and confident health-system pharmacy practitioner. The resident is accountable for achieving positive and safe patient outcomes. The resident provides pharmaceutical care, and education of patients and health care professionals as a member of an interdisciplinary health-care team. Our program allows for added emphasis on drug therapy outcomes through research and quality improvement initiatives, professional development, and writing/publishing depending upon the individual resident's plan. Health-system clinical pharmacy specialists serve as preceptors for residents throughout core learning experiences in practice management, acute care, and ambulatory care pharmacy practice settings. Additionally, residents are actively involved in all aspects of the management of centralized and decentralized pharmacy services. The program consists of 6 weeks of general orientation, followed by 10 months of learning experiences. A maximum of four residents are accepted into the program annually.
