In this role you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact to the success of Lubrizol by taking ownership of establishing the manufacturing organization at the beginning of the sites growth phase.
The ideal candidate for this role will have the ability to provide strategic and technical leadership for the commercial and clinical manufacturing operations, with oversight of all manufacturing activities. This is a hands-on position that is responsible for procedures designed to manage productivity, assure quality, control costs and mitigate production problems. The Director, Manufacturing Operations, will provide direction to subordinate managers, offering professional expertise and monitoring performance to ensure departmental and individual objectives are achieved within scheduled timelines and budgets. You are responsible for establishing and driving a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and alignment between various functions and departments on site, to ensure that major site strategic manufacturing objectives are met.
MANUFACTURING EXPERIENCES NEEDED: Product manufacturing of sterile products, working with milling and regulatory processes, strategy development for commercial manufacturing, pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical manufacturing, in-depth knowledge of cGMP’s, working in a regulatory environment following QbD, cGMP, and SOPs, safe handling and disposal of hazardous agents/reagents/chemicals, and managing audits/ inspections from customers and regulatory authorities
Consolidate manufacturing.One of the key objectives for this role is to consolidate all of the manufacturing into one site. You will create a more efficient manufacturing organization that will lead to the expansion of a two shift operation.
Develop organization structure. The second primary objective is to create a sustainable organization structure that will meet the needs across all demands. In the first 12 months you will need to determine staffing requirements, and oversee the interview, hiring, and training of new employees with the assistance of human resources.
Drive compliance, quality, and service. You will develop a manufacturing organization that produces the highest quality products and service that meets customer requirements/expectations. You will accomplish this objective by ensuring there is sufficient shop floor supervision, fully trained operators, completion of necessary documentation, and the adoption of fully implemented processes.
Monitor and meet performance.Establish and implement departmental goals, objectives and procedures, conferring with leadership member(s), management team, and staff as necessary. You will meet this objective by efficient management of quality and cost control, consistently monitoring performance against goals, and implementing preventative/corrective actions, as necessary.
Drive a culture of safety and continuous improvement. You will drive continuous improvement and safety efforts by actively engaging in cross- functional partnerships that will support the development/management of initiatives that support our safety culture, by leveraging best practices , and improving processes, so that they drive action.
Leadership abilityAs a trusted leader, you will build a high-performance team by role modelling, coaching, and developing personnel that exemplify the culture and behaviors aspired to by Lubrizol and the Bethlehem site. This includes identifying training needs of the operations team, and leveraging resources within the site to provide necessary training opportunities.
Build strong partnershipsSuccessfully engaging across the site, you will create and sustain strong relationships with all levels from senior management to the shop floor. You will identify synergies and best practices to enable strong performance of the site.
Minimum 10 years of leadership experience in pharmaceutical or related industry, in drug product manufacturing is required
Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Pharmacy, Engineering or a related field
